Social Media - CTA's and Group Management

Social Media Community Management

Building a community around your author brand can be an easy way to bring your work to a warm market (an audience who is already interested in reading what you write.)

There are many ways to build relationships with the members of your community :

  • Engaging in conversations :
    • Initiate conversations with a view to generating User Generated Content (UGC) by asking questions, adding polls, or seeking opinions.
    • Respond to comments and engage in meaningful discussions with your audience.
    • Encourage community members to connect and interact with each other and build relationships around your book.
  • Create challenges to help generate UGC
    • Design challenges or prompts that encourage your audience to create and share UGC related to your brand.
    • Incorporate a creative and fun element to entice participation. This can be something such as :
      • Imagining a scenario for a key character.
      • Continuation of a scene from a prompt.
    • Make sure to provide clear instructions and guidelines for challenge submissions.
  • Collaborations with Influencers
    • Partnering with influencers within your niche (other authors within the same genre) to help promote these challenges to a wider audience.
  •  Acknowledge and feature UGC :
    • Regularly acknowledge and appreciate the submissions you receive from your community.
    • Feature only high-quality UGC on your socials, website, or other marketing materials.
    • Tag and credit the creators of your UGC to give them recognition.
  • Running UGC contests or giveaways :
    • Organise contests or giveaways that require UGC submissions for participation.
    • Set clear rules and criteria for selecting winners.
    • Promote the contest or giveaway across your social media platforms to maximise participation.

Branded Hashtags

  • Try to develop a unique and memorable branded hashtag to help create a sense of community.
  • Your branded hashtag should be easy to spell and remember.
  • It should inspire people to get involved in conversations such as X or Instagram.
  • Promote the use of the hashtag across your social media platforms and marketing channels.
  • Showcase the best UGC from the week/month and incorporate your branded hashtag.

Calls to Action

A Call to Action (CTA) is an instruction given to your audience, that prompts them to perform a required action.

  • Use CTAs to encourage engagement and drive traffic.
  • Create clear and concise CTAs that inspire your audience to participate.
  • Ensure CTAs align with your business goals.
  • Use persuasive language and incentives to encourage UGC submissions.
  • Give precise and clear instructions on what your audience has to do to participate.
  • Set a limited time in which they need to perform the required action.
